On National Battery Day 2021 (Feb 18th) we were delighted to learn that Call2Recycle had given London Drugs a Leader in Sustainability Award for our efforts in collecting batteries for responsible recycling. With almost 50,000kg of batteries collected, that’s like diverting a whole semi truck and trailer weight of waste from landfill!
“We are honoured to be recognized by Call2Recycle as a Leader in Sustainability for the 10th year in a row,” says London Drugs Sustainability Specialist Raman Johal, “Batteries can be incredibly harmful to the environment when thrown in the garbage. We operate our battery recycling program so that customers have a convenient way to safely dispose of their used batteries, and London Drugs customers have really stepped up. So we share this award with them.”
Thanks to customer and staff efforts, London Drugs helped Call2Recycle collect a staggering 4.1 million kilograms of batteries in 2020 – that’s an increase of 1 million kg over 2019! Call2Recycle is London Drugs’ battery recycling partner, and is Canada’s largest, most reliable battery recycling program. To date they have recycled over 26 million kg of batteries across Canada.
