Energy was in the air, as hundreds gathered to recognize BC’s leaders in energy conservation. It was a gala event, hosted at the beautiful Vancouver Convention Centre West, itself a LEED® Platinum facility (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Celebrity presenters Mark Madryga and Tamara Stanners profiled the finalists in 10 categories.
London Drugs was proud to take home the trophy in the Regional Retailer category. London Drugs Marketing Services Manager, Dennis Dong accepted the award from BC Hydro Senior Marketing Manager, Jim Nelson.
What did we do right? Here are some of the highlights:
In 2010 and 2011, London Drugs converted the entire light fixtures section to sell only ENERGY STAR-labelled products.
We provided substantial promotional and corporate support for various Team Power Smart tradeshows, contests and events.
Power Smart energy-efficient products were featured in 49 of our 50 BC retail locations, with extensive use of branded point-of-purchase materials, branding and messaging in over 40 flyers and more than 400 training sessions with lighting associates.
It was great to see so many organizations recognized for their hard work to reduce energy use. This is the unsung-green-hero sort of stuff that needs to get out of the corporate back rooms and into the public eye.
